About
Dr Saima Sharif MRCOG, MSc:
Dr. Sharif is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the UK with a specialist interest in women’s menstrual and reproductive health in relation to Hajj and Umrah.
With women making up a significant proportion of pilgrims, menstrual health is an important — yet often overlooked — part of Hajj and Umrah preparation. Dr Sharif recognised the need for a dedicated service where women can access expert, personalised guidance in a confidential and culturally sensitive environment.
Her experience spans menstrual health, pregnancy and postnatal care, perimenopause, fibroids and a wide range of gynaecological conditions. Through the Hajj Gynaecologist Clinic, she provides one-to-one consultations for women preparing for Hajj or Umrah who want to better understand their menstrual cycle, explore their options, and plan ahead with confidence.
A personal understanding of Hajj:
Dr Sharif has undertaken Hajj herself in May 2026. Leaving from London to go to Mecca & Madina, her personal insight into the practical realities of the pilgrimage and some of the challenges women may face while managing their periods alongside the demands of Hajj.
This combination of specialist gynaecological expertise and personal Hajj experience allows her to provide thoughtful, practical guidance that considers both the medical and real-life aspects of preparing for your journey.
Prepare with confidence:
Your period should not leave you feeling uncertain about your Hajj or Umrah. I am not a scholar, so it is important to understand your 'Madhab' or School of thought and I can adapt the advice for your personal Hajj or Umrah journey.
Book a one-to-one consultation with Dr Sharif to understand your options, plan ahead and feel better prepared for your spiritual journey.
Workshops and virtual courses:
To help you understand your menstral cycles, plan confidently, and learn about women’s health in a supportive group environment.
Every part of our service is designed to give you reliable information, practical solutions, and confidence in your health decisions. I am happy to create bespoke programmes for Womens Hajj groups.
